ORCID

Overview

ORCID, short for Open Researcher and Contributor ID, is an international, non-profit organisation. The ORCID web-based system allows any researcher to get a unique ORCID ID number and develop a list of publications attached to that number.

Pros

  • Free to join.
  • Integrates well with other author identifiers (Scopus, ResearcherID or LinkedIn)
  • Allows you to be easy identified, especially from researchers with similar names.
  • Protects your ID permanently.
  • Linking your DOI’s to your ORCID makes it easy for people to find you and your publications.
