CiteULike is a web-based tool for managing and discovering scholarly references. Essentially, if you see a paper you like, you can click a button and the paper will be saved in your library and CiteULike will extract the citation details. Then, prioritse saved papers as “top priority” or “I might read it”. You can share your link library with others and you can also discover links by category.


  • The site caters to academics, so searching for publications by a tag or subject is going to be much more specific than a basic web search.
  • CiteULike integrates with Mendeley.


  • It’s interface is a bit outdated, but it is great if you integrate with Mendeley or another service.
